Ripe Pu-erh Mini Cakes — 24 Cakes (200g) in Bamboo Tube
Product description
Origin and leaf quality: Sourced from Menghai in Yunnan, these Pu-erh cakes are made from whole tea leaves harvested and processed with no added flavors or chemicals. The tea has been aged since 2020 to develop the characteristic mellow profile of ripe Pu-erh.
Packaging and materials: The set contains 24 small compressed cakes, totaling 200 grams, stored in a cylindrical bamboo tube. Each cake is wrapped in bamboo leaf which aids natural aging and imparts a faint vegetal note to the dry material.
Brewing and yield: Each mini cake can be split into roughly four single portions, so the tin-sized supply can produce about 96 small cups depending on strength preferences. Break off the desired portion, rinse if preferred, then steep to release a smooth, dark amber liquor.
Flavor profile: Expect a velvety mouthfeel with woody and nutty undertones, low bitterness, and a mellow finish. The bamboo wrapping releases a light grassy or bamboo scent when steeped, adding an unusual layer to the aged tea’s malt-like and earthy notes.
Use cases: Ideal for daily drinking as a calmer, less jittery pick-me-up than coffee — at home, while out and about, or during relaxed social brewing. The compact cakes make it simple to portion, transport, and share.

Quality restored in latest shipment
I almost skipped reordering because recent cakes were pale and weak, needing a whole cake for one pitcher. This time the cakes are darker and richer — half a cake makes a full-flavored pitcher I can sip all day.

Strong, caffeinated tea
Good flavor and quite strong — very caffeinated. I recommend using only a quarter of a disc if you prefer milder cups.

Product profile has changed recently
This was my morning staple for years, but the last two batches are lighter in color and more astringent. They taste closer to smoky hay and green tea than ripe Pu-erh. It no longer matches the darker, mellow product I received previously, and I'm now looking for a new morning Pu-erh.

Delicious and healthful
Delicious! Be mindful not to drink on an empty stomach and note it's a diuretic. Otherwise it tastes great and seems beneficial.

This batch doesn't taste like Pu-erh
I've ordered this many times and it usually hits the mark, but this shipment tasted far more like rooibos than aged Pu-erh. Completely unlike what I expect from this product. Very disappointed and wish returns were possible.

Really enjoyable aroma and strength
New to this tea and I like its pronounced aroma and full-bodied taste. I usually don't strain it and sip carefully toward the end. It stands well on its own — no sweeteners needed. I'll buy again.

Mildew ruined a longtime favorite
NEW: This used to be my go-to and I bought it repeatedly, but my most recent order of three bundles arrived mildewy and undrinkable. Not eligible for return, so about 240 cups wasted. ORIGINAL: Previously an excellent, malty Pu-erh in convenient serving sizes — rich, flavorful, and perfect to break into quarters for single servings. I planned to repurchase if available.

Gets much better with peppermint and honey
First time buying Pu-erh for energy and metabolism support. The initial washed brew was a bit grassy and slightly fishy, perhaps from the bamboo wrap. Brewing half a cake with dried peppermint and a touch of honey transformed it — smooth malt and floral notes with a sweet finish.
