Orbi 770 WiFi 7 Mesh System (3-Pack Router + 2 Satellites)
Product description
What’s included: one Orbi 770 router and two matching satellite units (3‑piece mesh). The kit is intended to work together as a single network, with the router connected to your modem and satellites positioned around the home to extend signal.
Performance and bands: Tri‑Band WiFi 7 architecture provides up to 11 Gbps theoretical aggregate throughput and keeps a dedicated band for backhaul between router and satellites so client bandwidth is preserved. The system supports legacy WiFi 6 and WiFi 5 devices, and handles many devices simultaneously — manufacturers state support for roughly 100 connected clients.
Compatibility and ports: The system is compatible with cable and fiber modem equipment and is built for internet plans up to multi‑gig speeds; it includes 2.5G WAN and multiple 2.5G LAN ports on the router and satellite units to support wired devices and higher throughput over Ethernet. Adding an extra satellite later expands coverage by roughly 2,700 sq ft per additional unit.
Setup and management: Setup is performed via the Orbi mobile app, which walks you through initial installation, satellite pairing, and guest network creation. The app also offers remote device management and settings adjustments.
Security and updates: Routers ship with security protections active out of the box, automatic firmware updates, and an optional security suite available as a trial. The subscription service (after the trial) adds device‑level protections against malware, intrusions, and identity threats.
Use cases: The kit is aimed at larger or multi‑story homes where coverage and simultaneous device performance matter — streaming 4K/8K, online gaming, VR, video conferencing, and multiple smart home gadgets all benefit from the tri‑band design and dedicated backhaul.
Pros
- Extensive coverage up to 8,000 sq ft with scalable satellites
- WiFi 7 tri‑band throughput and dedicated backhaul for more consistent speeds
- Multi‑gig WAN/LAN ports and app-driven setup with built‑in security
Cons
- Initial setup can take time and may be fiddly for some users
- Some households report occasional disconnects or compatibility hiccups
- Advanced security features require a paid subscription after trial
VerdictThe Orbi 770 kit delivers wide-ranging coverage and next‑generation WiFi 7 throughput, with a dedicated band for router–satellite backhaul and multi‑gig wired ports. Setup and management are handled through a guided app and security features are enabled by default. While many users report dramatic coverage and speed improvements, a minority experience setup friction or intermittent disconnects. Ov

Stable performance — setup is the pain point
I rate it four stars because once configured it runs solidly, but getting there was a hassle. I ran it behind another router with a T‑Mobile home internet connection and satellites each took 10–15 minutes to be discovered. Even for someone comfortable with networking, the multi‑unit setup requires patience and a chunk of time.

Wide coverage and strong wired satellite options
I’ve tried other mesh systems and the Orbi 770 outperformed those I had at home. The ability to plug devices directly into the satellites gives dependable speeds throughout the house, and coverage is solid with no dead zones in my setup.

Clear upgrade from provider pods — very satisfied (5 stars)
I replaced my ISP’s pods with this 3‑pack after researching options. With a 940 Mbps fiber plan, the Orbi 770 gave me noticeably stronger coverage and steadier speeds. I liked that it has a separate backhaul band; that extra headroom keeps devices performing well when multiple people are online. Setup was straightforward via the app and I wish I’d purchased sooner when it was discounted.

Big improvement inside and out — excellent support
Customer support (shoutout to Sahil) was very helpful and everything now works flawlessly. Using a separate cable modem with the Orbi mesh cleared up freezing and lag on video calls. The app is easy to use, the units look good, and signal strength is strong across my home and yard. I also appreciate the dedicated IoT band.

Marked improvement over old Google mesh
Replacing a four‑puck system fixed poor upstairs speeds in our three‑story home. Gigabit fiber now delivers much better throughput, especially when a client is wired to a satellite. The only friction was the lack of printed instructions — the QR/app approach is fine but it didn’t clearly explain admin vs guest network setup.

Persistent disconnects made this unusable for us
We upgraded from an older Orbi model expecting a smooth experience, but after initial setup we faced frequent drops. Resets helped temporarily, WPA2/3 compatibility needed tweaks, and firmware checks didn’t resolve the recurring disconnects. We tried placement changes and troubleshooting steps, but the instability continued.

Great multi‑gig ports and reliable wireless performance
Running a 2‑pack setup, installation was quick — about 15–20 minutes using the Orbi app. Coverage reaches the backyard and corners of the house with consistent signal. The 2.5G WAN and LAN ports provide true multi‑gig throughput for wired devices, and even devices on the satellites see excellent speeds. Wireless performance has been solid in daily use.

Feature-rich UI and VPN support; product performs well
The management interface, firewall and WireGuard VPN support stand out. After replacing a problematic mesh setup from another brand, I configured static IPs for cameras and NAS, enabled my VPN, and the Orbi handled everything reliably. Support for advanced networking is strong.
