OXO Good Grips Medium Cookie Scoop — 1.5 Tbsp Portioner
Product description
What you get: a single medium cookie scoop (size 40) designed to portion dough and small servings.
Construction and size: the scoop bowl and integrated wiper are made from stainless steel for cutting through soft or dense mixtures. The medium capacity measures about 1.5 tablespoons, producing cookies roughly 2.75 inches in diameter — a standard size for even baking.
How it works and care: the scoop uses a spring-loaded handle with soft, non-slip grips to give comfortable leverage; a built-in stainless steel blade sweeps the bowl clean when you squeeze the handle, ejecting sticky dough in one motion. It's intended for cookies, small ice cream servings, meatballs and similar tasks. The tool is dishwasher-safe for easy cleanup, but avoid forcing it through very hard, chilled dough to preserve the mechanism.
Pros
- Even, repeatable portions
- Comfortable non-slip spring handle
- Stainless steel bowl and wiper, dishwasher-safe
Cons
- Can jam with very stiff, chilled dough
- Handle spacing can be wide for small hands
- Some users report occasional mechanical failures
VerdictA reliable kitchen portioner for consistently sized cookies and small servings. The stainless-steel scoop and wiper handle sticky or dense dough well, while the cushioned spring handle reduces hand fatigue. Sturdily built and dishwasher-safe, though very chilled or overly firm doughs can strain the mechanism.

Good product and responsive support
Product quality is solid, and when I encountered an issue the manufacturer handled it professionally despite the purchase being several months old. Their customer service was helpful and resolved my problem without hassle. Overall I’d recommend the scoop based on the tool and the support experience.

Outstanding for high-volume baking
I bake a lot and this scoop has been my go-to. It holds up well in the dishwasher and hasn’t corroded. My only caveat: it struggled with chilled dough once, but for room-temperature batters it’s flawless. Comfortable and efficient.

A cookie season essential
This is my go-to during holiday baking. It produces uniform cookies that look professionally made and is much less messy than using a spoon. I replaced my first one only after many years of regular use — great value for frequent bakers.

Failed after just a few uses
I bought this after following a recipe blog recommendation and was very disappointed. After only three scoops it became misaligned and wouldn’t eject properly. I kept fixing the mechanism, tried different recipes over a few months, and ultimately threw it out. Could have been a defective unit, but I won’t buy another to test that.

Won’t bake cookies without it now
This was my first portioner and it made cookie prep so much faster. The mechanism is smooth, the scoop size is ideal for standard cookies, and the results are very consistent — almost factory-like in appearance.

Dependable all-purpose portioner
I bought this scoop nearly six years ago and still use it for cookies, meatballs and small ice cream portions. It reliably holds about 1.5 tablespoons and produces roughly 2¾" cookies. The soft, spring-loaded handle makes release easy and the stainless bowl wipes clean. I hand-wash mine but it rinses well. I’m buying another as a gift, though I’ve seen a few reports of breakage — maybe some units have defects.

Simple and practical
Sturdy material and easy to use. I also have a larger scoop from the same brand and can vouch for their long-term durability. Avoid forcing it through very hard dough to keep the mechanism happy.

Worth paying a little more for
I’d tried cheaper scoops that failed, so spending more on this one paid off. It’s strong, easy to use and seems durable. Haven’t tried it with ice cream but it should handle small servings fine. Other tools from this brand have also worked well for me.

Workhorse that lasted years beyond expectations
I bought this five years ago for cookies and it’s still going strong. It outlasted cheaper scoops I’d owned. I also use it for meatballs and other foods where consistent size matters. Durable and dependable in everyday kitchen use.

Takes the guesswork out of cookies
I wanted uniform cookies without wasting time rolling or eyeballing portions. The medium size is a great single-scoop choice — slightly larger than average but not oversized. Build quality is excellent: solid steel, a strong spring and a very grippy handle. Feels like it will last many years with regular use.
