Neoteck Magnetic Base Stand for Dial Indicators with Flexible Arm
Product description
The stand includes a magnetic base with an on/off control and an attached articulated arm assembly. Both magnet faces are solid and when engaged can deliver a maximum tensile force of 176 lbs — to reach that rating you need a steel workpiece or plate at least 1.2 inches (30 mm) thick. For safe operation, tighten the central adjustment knob before relying on the magnet’s full grip.
The arm uses a sturdy rotary joint system that locks into place and can be set in virtually any direction or angle, giving high positional stability for most inspection tasks. The linkage is engineered for repeatable positioning and resists unintended shifts when the locking hardware is secured.
Arm lengths are specified as a 5.0" lower arm and a 4.5" upper arm; the stand’s overall working height measures about 14.1 inches. These dimensions accommodate typical shop layouts while keeping the indicator close to the measured surface.
The clamp accepts a 3/8" (9.52 mm) mounting stud, which is the common size used by most dial indicators and lever test indicators, so you can use your existing instruments without adapters. The mount grips conventional indicator stems for direct attachment.
Compatibility extends across the majority of dial and test indicators on the market, making this a useful, versatile tool for machinists, inspectors, and hobbyists. It’s intended as an upgrade option to replace weaker or unstable bases without having to purchase a complete new indicator set.
Pros
- Very strong magnetic holding force
- Flexible, lockable arm geometry
- Fits standard 3/8" indicator stems
Cons
- Indicator clamp can require heavy tightening
- Fine-tip adjustment lacks micro-fidelity
- Some reports of arm wear over extended use
VerdictThis magnetic base gives strong holding power and flexible positioning for a wide range of dial and lever test indicators. It’s a cost-conscious upgrade for existing indicator setups, offering robust magnets, standard 3/8" mounting, and lockable joints — though some users report the fine-end clamp and long-term arm rigidity could be improved for ultra-precise, high-duty work.

Fredrik Nordvall 5/5
Steady and simple to use
Performs well — steady and straightforward to operate.

Paul Skibinski 5/5
Impressive build for the price
Outstanding quality for the cost; the magnet grips well. Comparable to my older premium Starrett unit.
-
D. Kreiling 5/5
Works well with many gauges
Solid construction — essentially the same type I used on the job.
-
Stan 5/5
High value, performs like premium brands
Powerful base and solid construction. I mount a portable profilometer on it instead of swapping indicators for finish checks.

Jason mershon 4/5
Strong magnet, minor clamp issue
Magnet bites well and the arm-lock works. The small indicator clamp needs a lot of force to tighten or release.
-
ぽちょ 3/5
Not ideal for ultra-precise measuring
End adjustment lacks fine control and has some play, so small movements can occur. Fix that and it’s a great value.

Failed to hold zero after months
Bought two for precision work; after a few months the arms wouldn’t maintain zero. Not ideal for tight tolerances.
-
Rob 5/5
Solid alternative to expensive bases
Works like pricier models; the magnet is strong and the base does the job.
-
Paul Cather 5/5
Stable and compatible with many indicators
Very steady and fits all my different indicators — good value overall.
