Hormex Rooting Cubes — 50 Seed & Cutting Starter Plugs
Product description
ROOT INITIATION: These rooting cubes supply a supportive medium for the early root stage of both cuttings and seedlings. The composition encourages initial root formation while keeping tender tissues moist and aerated.
MATERIAL BLEND: Each plug is formulated from peat moss, coconut coir and worm castings. That combination holds water but still lets air reach developing roots, helping balance hydration and oxygen.
SOIL OR HYDROPONIC: The plugs are suitable for use in traditional potting mixes or in hydroponic and cloning systems. They’re intended for vegetables, culinary herbs and ornamental flowers and can be used indoors, outdoors or in greenhouses.
HANDLING AND STRUCTURE: These pre-wetted clone plugs remain cohesive during handling, so you can insert cuttings or seeds without them falling apart. Their flexible form makes placement into trays or net pots straightforward.
QUANTITY AND USE: Each package contains 50 starter plugs. Place a seed or a prepared cutting into a plug, maintain appropriate moisture for the plant type, and monitor as roots form and plants establish.

VerdictThese 50 rooting cubes offer a reliable medium for initiating roots on cuttings and germinating seeds. Dependable plugs for most propagation
I use these every planting season. Pre-moistened and nutrient-ready, they encourage steady root development on my cuttings.

Holes make insertion easy
The plugs have a top-to-bottom channel that accepts fragile stems well. I docked a star rating because they didn’t expand as I expected, so my 4-inch stalks don’t fit in a single plug. I stacked two and placed Crepe Myrtle cuttings; after three days the branches still look alive.

Works well with cuttings
Good for stem propagation. I still add rooting powder for extra assurance.

Not suitable for my violets
I grow African violets as a hobby and tried these hoping to root leaf cuttings. I’d never used this style before and it didn’t produce new violets from leaves for me.
