ARCTIC MX-6 (8 g) Thermal Paste — High Conductivity Compound
Product description
ARCTIC MX‑6 is supplied in an 8 g syringe and features a reworked formulation designed to offer lower thermal resistance than the earlier MX‑4 compound. The paste is non‑electrically conductive and non‑capacitive, removing the risk of shorts or discharge during application. Its viscosity is tuned for controlled spreading — not runny, yet workable enough for conventional CPU and heatsink contact as well as direct‑die applications on graphics processors and console chips.
The compound is intended for long service life and resists drying out quickly, maintaining thermal performance over time. Its properties make it suitable for desktop CPUs, GPUs, gaming consoles and laptops. ARCTIC also implements an authenticity check on each product to allow buyers to confirm the tube is genuine.
ARCTIC is a long‑standing maker of low‑noise cooling components and accessories, including CPU coolers, fans, monitor arms, wall mounts, thermal pads and thermal pastes. The company operates internationally with offices in Germany, Hong Kong and the USA, and has established a presence with users in more than 56 countries through a focus on quiet cooling, usability and value.
Pros
- Lower thermal resistance vs MX‑4
- Non‑electrically conductive formula
- Suitable for CPUs, GPUs, consoles and direct‑die use
Cons
- Not as thermally conductive as liquid metal options
- Only an 8 g syringe — may be limited for heavy users
- Thicker consistency can require careful spreading
VerdictA refined thermal compound that improves on previous MX formulations with lower thermal resistance and a non‑conductive, long‑lasting formula. Easy to apply and suitable for a wide range of cooling tasks from laptop CPUs to direct‑die GPU cooling, MX‑6 delivers reliable temperature control without the hazards of conductive alternatives.

Aldo Durán 5/5
Verified original and highly capable
Confirmed authentic product. It performs well under stress; in Cinebench testing my laptop peaked at 84°C, which is within expected thresholds for gaming laptops.

Recommend — thicker but effective
The paste is on the thick side, but temperatures dropped significantly and I can play without my machine shutting down now.

Works well on consoles and PCs
Effective across both console and PC hardware. The compound feels dense and protective once applied, and it performs reliably.

Held up well over time
I hadn’t used it for a while but it stayed consistent and didn’t flow excessively from the tube or on the chip. Applied as a large X and didn’t see any heat‑related issues.

Kept temperatures down during stress testing
High‑quality paste that met expectations. It kept my laptop CPU and chipsets cool during a two‑hour stress run without problems.

Performs exactly as expected
Bought an 8 g tube and it worked well. Cooling improved noticeably and application was tidy and quick. The size is adequate for multiple uses and overall it feels like good value.

Gave an old GPU new life
Re‑pasted an RX‑580 that ran hot from previous use. After removing the old residue and applying MX‑6, load temps dropped from about 89°C to 73°C. The paste wasn’t overly thick and was straightforward to apply.

Dependable thermal paste with stable temperatures
MX‑6 has been very reliable for me. It spreads evenly without running or clumping, and delivers consistent temperatures on CPUs, GPUs, consoles and laptops. Being non‑conductive removes the worry about shorts, and the 8 g tube lasts through several installs. Performance is strong and it retains its texture over time.

Pretty good but a bit thick
Works nicely, though it feels slightly heavy to spread compared with some thinner pastes.

Good performance, minimal pump‑out
After six months I’ve seen almost no pump‑out and it’s easy to apply. The paste remained fluid after frequent use and performed a bit better than Noctua NT‑H2 on my AMD 5900X with a Noctua D15 under heavy loads. It also behaves well on GPUs.

Spreads more easily than some rivals
Spreads smoother than some competitors and offers very good heat transfer. I tested it with Peltier modules spread thin, and it outperformed other compounds I’ve tried in my setup.

Outperformed my old Arctic Silver 5 setup
System: Ryzen 3700X (stock) and EVGA 2060 XC Ultra. I’d used Arctic Silver 5 for years but it required extra caution because it is capacitive. After repasting both GPU and CPU with MX‑6 and running real‑world gaming while logging temps, I saw noticeably cooler and more stable results.
