MAVIA 2.75-inch Boar Bristle Round Styling Brush
Product description
Dual-height bristle system for root-to-tip styling: longer nylon pins reach through the section to the root while shorter boar bristles smooth and polish the outer layer, letting you shape the crown and the finished lengths in one rotation.
Two-step bristle arrangement and size details: the taller nylon pins engage the hair first, followed by the shorter boar fibers in the same pass. The brush measures 2.75 inches across the full barrel; the solid wood core inside is 1 inch in diameter.
Cork-wrapped handle for comfortable control: the matte cork provides a soft, grippy surface beneath the thumb and palm, with subtle ridges that help maintain a firm hold as you roll the brush. To preserve grip, avoid leaving the cork wet between uses.
Flexible sectioning and styling uses: the wider barrel accommodates larger sections for long layers, while smaller pieces taken with the fingertips can form loose curtain or side-bang bends rather than tight spirals.
Made for fine-thin to medium hair lengths: engineered to work best on fine to medium textures, especially medium to long lengths that match the working width. Very thick or coily hair that relies on stronger tension will usually need a different, firmer tool.
Wood core construction and heat resistance: the 1-inch wood core adds durability and tolerates blow-dryer temperatures while keeping the brush lightweight for comfortable styling sessions. The brush ships as the single round brush in a box and includes a small instruction insert.
Pros
- Dual nylon and boar bristles for lift and shine
- Comfortable cork-wrapped handle
- Lightweight, heat-resistant wood core
Cons
- Not optimal for very thick or coarse hair
- Cork grip can lose traction if left damp
- May cause static on some hair types
VerdictA well-made round brush built for adding root lift and smoothing longer fine to medium hair. The mix of nylon pins and shorter boar fibers helps create tension at the root and polish the outer lengths, while a 1-inch wood core and cork-wrapped handle keep the tool lightweight and heat-resistant for blow-drying. Excellent for volume and soft bends, but not ideal for very coarse, dense hair or users

Adds lift to fine hair
My hair is fine, so I wanted a round brush that would give root lift without yanking. This brush creates noticeable volume at the roots and smooths the lengths into a soft, bouncy shape rather than tight curls. The boar fibers hold just enough to form tension while feeling gentle, and the 2.75-inch barrel gives a salon-style finish. The handle is comfortable and the bristles have stayed put after regular use, so it’s held up well for my blowouts.

Returned despite solid build
I returned it because it didn’t grip my hair the way I needed. The construction felt sturdy, but there may be too many bristles for my texture and I noticed some static right away.

Handle length was misstated
The listing said a longer handle but the handle matches my current brush exactly. The overall brush length is different, but the handle isn’t extended as described, so it didn’t meet my needs.

Works better on longer lengths
The brush has a lightweight wood core and a soft feel on the hair. It’s on the larger side, so it performs best on longer lengths; with shoulder-length, it handled the lengths nicely but didn’t grab my roots enough to fully straighten them. For straight or wavy hair it’s great; for very curly hair I had to switch to a tool with a stronger root grip to finish the straightening.

Noticeable root lift
This brush quickly became my go-to for adding crown volume. The 2.75-inch size lifts roots without feeling clumsy, and the boar bristles glide through fine hair while spreading natural oils for extra shine. The wood core and cork handle are comfortable even during longer styling, and it holds heat well to help set a smooth bend for layered styles.

High quality but better for longer hair
This feels more premium than most round brushes, with the mixed bristles and cushioned cork grip. It arrived with a box and a short instruction sheet, which made it easy to pass along as a gift. The 2.75-inch barrel was a bit large for my shorter length and bangs, so I gave it to my granddaughter who has longer hair and enjoys styling; it smooths and shapes long, fine-to-medium hair nicely.

Four stars
Nice-looking and well-built: the dark wood barrel and cork handle feel durable and comfortable. The nylon and boar combo gives a good amount of grip without pulling, and it smooths and adds soft volume during blow-drying. It handles treated hair gently and even works on wigs. A small design quirk keeps it from a perfect score for me, but overall it performs very well.
