25-Pack 40mm Acrylic Coin Capsules for Morgan & Peace Dollars
Product description
This package contains 25 two-piece acrylic coin capsules designed to hold single coins with an internal diameter of 40mm. Each capsule is molded from high-clarity, PVC-free acrylic to reduce chemical risk to collectible surfaces while providing a near-glass view of both faces of the coin.
The capsules close with a snap-fit rim that keeps dirt, fingerprints, and light moisture away from coin surfaces during storage and display. Internal depth is 3mm, giving enough clearance for most struck and commemorative pieces, while the outside depth is 6mm. The raised edge around the face helps keep the visible acrylic surface off flat surfaces when stacked or displayed, reducing incidental abrasion.
They accommodate a wide range of popular coins that measure up to 40mm in diameter, including many Morgan and Peace dollars, selected Britannias, Maple Leafs and other compatible rounds and commemoratives. These capsules are not suitable for coins larger than 40mm — for example, 40.6mm American Silver Eagles will not fit. Always measure your coins before purchasing to confirm fit.
Pros
- High-clarity, PVC-free acrylic
- Raised rim (3mm inner, 6mm outer) protects faces
- Secure snap-close keeps out dust and fingerprints
Cons
- Snap closure can be difficult to open
- Not compatible with 40.6mm American Silver Eagles
- Relatively thick profile may be bulkier for storage
VerdictTransparent, durable coin holders that protect larger collectible coins from dust, fingerprints, and light handling. Excellent clarity and a sturdy snap fit, but the tight closure can be hard to separate and the 40mm bore will not accept 40.6mm American Silver Eagles. Best for coins that actually measure 40mm or less.

Not suitable for American Silver Eagles
These were originally listed as Eagle holders, but the sizing is off. The capsule internal diameter measures about 1.570" while an American Silver Eagle is about 1.596", so Eagles won’t fit. An older Eagle I tried sat loosely. Check measurements before ordering.

Clear protection that keeps details visible
These capsules offer a straightforward way to shield larger coins while letting you see both sides without taking the coin out. I use them for Morgan and Peace dollars and appreciate the clean presentation and consistent sizing for storage and trays. The snap fit holds well and keeps dust and fingerprints off while I sort new pieces at my desk. Stacking is neat and the raised rim reduces contact with flat surfaces. Overall, the clarity and protective design make them a useful everyday option for collectors.

Good for dollars and half-dollars
Solid acrylic capsules that assemble easily and protect dollar and half-dollar coins. The plastic feels strong and clear, allowing easy viewing and safe stacking without damage. They’re convenient for display and keeping coins visible while protected.

Works for a youngster's collection but pricey
They snap together very tightly and feel secure once assembled, which may be a plus or a minus depending on use. My 11-year-old son loves handling coins, so these work for us, but I think they’re overpriced for what they are. I did appreciate that the two halves were bagged separately so I didn’t have to sort them out.

Ideal for Libertads; Eagles are too big
These 40mm capsules are a perfect fit for Mexican Libertads and also work for some Britannias and Maple Leafs, but American Silver Eagles are too large. I don’t love the 3mm internal depth but the total 6mm thickness gives a sturdy feel. The pieces snap together firmly and don’t come apart easily, which I like. Quality is solid; I’d recommend them mainly for Libertads.

Silver Eagle won’t fit; packaging arrived damaged
The 40mm bore does not accept a Silver Eagle and the parcel came with a broken case inside a flimsy paper bag.

Looks great but very hard to open
The clarity and finish are excellent and the 25-pack is a good value for visibility, but they are extremely tight to separate. I cracked one while trying to pry it open. The trick is to find the tiny notch on the top edge and use your fingernail to lift while levering the bottom — I ended up using a blade for a couple. I wish they twisted open. Coin in the photo (a 24-peso commemorative) fits well once closed.
