4-Row Spike Lawn Aerator — 20 Steel Spikes for Small Yards
Product description
Designed for focused aeration on small lawns, edges, garden beds and other confined spaces, this manual tool helps with overseeding, reseeding, and lawn maintenance without disturbing large turf areas.
The unit features four rows of sharp steel spikes—twenty in total—each about 2.8 inches long. The frame and spikes are constructed from heavy-duty steel for longevity and stability. The whole tool measures roughly 34.6 inches from foot plate to top, and the foot plate itself measures about 9.2 by 5.5 inches to give a secure stance while pressing the spikes into the soil.
Assembly is simple and quick; the aerator arrives with the components needed to put it together and a handful of spare spikes for replacements. Use it by standing on the foot plate and stepping to drive the spikes into the ground, repeating across the area requiring treatment.
For best results, work when the soil is slightly moist—after light rain or watering—to allow the spikes to penetrate without excessive force. This tool is intended for reasonably firm but workable soils; extremely hard, baked ground or very loose, sandy loam may limit effectiveness or require additional effort.
Pros
- Solid heavy-steel construction
- Compact four-row design for tight spaces
- Easy, quick assembly with spare spikes included
Cons
- Manual use can be tiring for larger lawns
- Uncoated steel spikes may rust if not dried
- Narrow working width makes full yards time-consuming
VerdictA straightforward, durable hand aerator made for targeted lawn repairs and small turf areas. It delivers deep, consistent holes with a compact footprint, is simple to assemble, and improves water, seed and fertilizer penetration. Best suited to small yards, borders and touch-ups rather than full-property aeration sessions.

Stable and easy to use — narrow for large areas
I’ve used this several times on a variety of soils. With normal body weight the spikes penetrate easily and the handle is steady. Soil and grass don’t clog the tines often, so progress is decent. No bent spikes or rust so far, though I’d prefer a wider working width for larger lawns.

Use it once — choose the larger model
Works fine. Consider a bigger size if you have more area to cover.

Quick lawn recovery after repairs
Used this on a disturbed area after a patio install. The soil loosened, I seeded, and fresh grass appeared within a couple of weeks. Easy to handle and affordable.

Sturdy but handle could be comfier
Built very solidly and handles rocky, dry soil without clogging. It’s effective but the grip gets uncomfortable after long use in tough ground.

Good quality for the price
Well-built and effective. Remember this is manual work — it reduces the difficulty but still takes effort and time. A cover for the spikes would be a nice bonus.

Great for problem spots
Very solid construction and extras like replacement spikes are helpful. Easy to assemble and durable. I underestimated the time needed for a full first aeration — it’s better for spot work or touch-ups unless you have a very small yard.

Revitalized my lawn — solid performance
This aerator really improved my grass health. Assembly was quick and the parts fit easily. The frame feels tough yet the tool isn’t heavy to operate, so I could cover several patches without tiring out. It makes neat, deep holes and gave visible greening within weeks.

Works well but rusts if left wet
Performs as expected, but the bare steel spikes can rust if not cleaned and dried after use. A coated or stainless option would avoid that maintenance hassle.

Suitable for small lawns
Solid, reliable design. I aerate about 30 m² and it takes me around half an hour. The solid spikes close up faster than hollow ones, but that also makes the tool easier to use.

Very effective and dependable
This manual aerator loosens soil reliably so air, water and seed reach roots. The multiple spikes make the job efficient and the tool feels dependable and sturdy during use.
