3-Pack Universal Ceiling Fan Remote Control Kit for Hampton Bay & Hunter
Product description
Compatibility and limitations: Designed for ceiling fans that use a conventional AC motor. Not suitable for DC motor fans or fixtures that already contain a manufacturer-built smart control module. This kit does not provide light dimming or fan reverse functionality. Confirm your fan's motor type and requirements before purchasing.
What’s included: The package contains three complete remote-control kits. Each kit includes one 9-button handheld remote, one inline receiver, a set of wire nuts, a wall-mount holder for the remote, and a visual step-by-step installation guide.
Receiver size and fit: Each receiver measures 2.76 x 2.17 x 0.97 inches. Measure the interior of your fan’s canopy or mounting space prior to installation — insufficient room is the most common reason these modules won’t fit.
Control features and operation: The compact 9-button remote provides three fan speed settings (high, medium, low) plus an off button, immediate light on/off control, and four auto-off timers (1H, 2H, 4H, 8H). All buttons are silent to avoid audible beeps during nighttime adjustments.
Installation and technology: Typical installation takes about 15 minutes and involves connecting five wires. Receivers arrive pre-synced with their remotes at the factory, so no pairing, coding, or PIN setup is necessary. The receiver uses zero-cross switching to minimize electrical arcing on older wiring, which can help prolong the receiver’s service life.
Pros
- Pre-paired remotes for quick setup
- Silent buttons and multiple timers
- Zero-cross switching for reduced arcing
Cons
- Only for AC motor fans, no dim or reverse
- Receiver may not fit small canopies
- Occasional early failures reported
VerdictThese three remote kits are a convenient, pre-synced way to add wireless control to standard AC ceiling fans. Installation is straightforward for someone comfortable with basic wiring, and the silent 9-button remotes and timer options are practical for bedrooms and living areas. Fit can be an issue in very compact canopies and a minority of units have shown early failures, so verify canopy space a

Performs better than other replacements
I swapped out old remotes with these and they were easy to install and work reliably.

Two failed after a few months
Two out of three stopped working within months despite professional installation. I paid to have them removed and the fans ran fine afterward. Costly problem — I can’t recommend these.

Very handy for bedrooms and living rooms
Works great for turning lights and fans on from bed or the sofa. Installed in three rooms—easy install, solid range and straightforward operation.

A must for flush-mount installations
Installed seven fans this season and these modules seat perfectly inside flush-mount housings. I used doubled tape to secure the receiver sideways on the mounting arm, exposed the wires and hooked them right up. The control unit is roomy and simple so it’s harder to misplace, and the operation is straightforward.

Handled dirty inverter power fairly well
I bought the 3-pack after helping a friend with electronic-control issues on a Hunter fan. Two units ran perfectly in our older fans and the third worked in the friend’s setup despite noisy inverter power. Speeds are smooth and quiet. One module did fail after a couple of days, but the build looked decent—these things can be hit-or-miss.

Good quality and range
Good quality. They work wonderfully with my Hunter fans and the remote range is solid.

Mostly good but one unit caused interference
Received the pack quickly and had a pro install them. Two worked fine, each controlling just its room. The third unexpectedly affected the other fans too. These are pre-set without dip switches. I received a refund for the problem unit and ordered replacements; if the trouble continues I’ll try a model with dip switches.

Poor longevity in my installs
Terrible experience. After installing these, the unit slowed the fan and stopped working after a few cycles. I install these devices professionally and regret buying these—within a month I couldn’t even return them.

Works but wiring is thin
Functionally fine, but the receiver wiring is very thin so it’s really best for smaller fans. I used it on a small 5-blade fan with ~42 cm blades and a 104 V motor.

Useful but needs electrician for install
Practical and well-made, good overall value. Expect to hire an electrician for the wiring unless you’re comfortable with electrical work.
