LG S20A 2.0-Channel TV Soundbar with Dolby Audio (Black)
Product description
Small footprint, fuller sound. The S20A is a slender 2.0-channel soundbar built to replace a TV’s onboard speakers while fitting neatly on a shelf or under the display. Its passive radiator boosts bass response so vocals and effects feel richer than with the TV alone.
Immersive audio with Dolby. This model supports Dolby Audio processing to enhance clarity and depth across movies, music and games, making soundscapes wider and dialogue easier to pick out.
Two-channel design and hardware. The unit uses a metal grille with LG’s crest styling that both refines the look and helps keep dust out. The slim profile is meant to accommodate tighter spaces above or below the TV.
What’s included. The package contains the soundbar, power cord, remote control (batteries may not be included), and a quick-start guide—enough to get the system running right away. Wall-mounting hardware and cables vary by region.
TV-first connectivity. Primary hookup is HDMI ARC for a single-cable connection that passes audio and remote commands between TV and soundbar. Bluetooth wireless streaming is available for mobile audio. There is no optical input on this model, so older TVs that relied on optical outputs may need a different interface.
LG TV integration features. When paired with compatible LG televisions the soundbar can operate in tandem with the TV speakers (creating a combined output) and be controlled with a single TV remote. On-screen prompts show connection and mode info for easier setup.
AI Sound Pro and app tuning. An on-board AI EQ adjusts equalization in real time for clearer dialogue, livelier music and punchier sports. For hands-on control you can use the LG ThinQ app to tweak a three-band equalizer (bass, mid, treble) from your phone.
Single-cable convenience. With HDMI ARC you can eliminate extra wires and let audio pass directly from the TV to the soundbar while retaining remote control functionality. That one-cable approach simplifies installation and keeps the setup tidy.
Design notes. The S20A aims to blend into living spaces with a clean metal grill and low profile. Its compact size makes it a good option for smaller rooms or for placement in a built-in shelf niche.
Pros
- Compact form factor that fits small spaces
- Seamless control and pairing with compatible LG TVs
- Dolby Audio and passive radiator improve clarity and bass
Cons
- Not tuned for heavy, club-style bass
- No optical input—limits compatibility with older TVs
- Setup details and remote functions can be limited for some users
VerdictA compact, TV-focused 2.0 soundbar that brings clearer dialogue and a fuller low end than most built-in TV speakers. It shines when paired with modern LG TVs thanks to single-remote control and special speaker-sync features, but it’s not geared toward heavy-bass enthusiasts and can be limited on older sets without ARC or optical connections.

Great for outdoor TV area
Installed it under the patio inside a waterproof box. Wanted an affordable option and this fits the bill; took a bit to pair to the LG TV but the remote works fine now.

Not compatible with older TVs—no optical
Returning it. Requires HDMI ARC for the full connection; my older LG only had a standard HDMI input and no Bluetooth, and there’s no optical port to fall back on.

Compact but audio is underwhelming
Setup was straightforward and the unit is small, but the sound tends to resemble a louder TV speaker. Remote and manual offer limited help.
