LG S95TR 9.1.5-Channel Home Theater Soundbar System
Product description
The LG S95TR is a complete home theater audio package built around a multi-driver soundbar, a wireless subwoofer and a pair of wireless rear speakers. The system is configured as a 9.1.5-channel array — five up-firing drivers contribute to height effects, a dedicated up-firing center channel focuses on dialogue, and three up-firing channels expand the vertical soundstage. Included in the box are the main soundbar, wireless subwoofer, two wireless rear satellites, power cords, a remote control and basic cabling for HDMI eARC connectivity.
The soundbar housing uses a low-profile, matte-finish enclosure with a protective grille across the front drivers; the wireless rear modules require only AC power and maintain a wireless connection to the main unit, so no separate receiver is necessary. The subwoofer is a large, sealed cabinet designed to add deep low-end impact while keeping placement flexible. The system exposes HDMI inputs and eARC support for high-resolution, uncompressed audio streams and supports wireless linking between compatible LG TVs and the bar for a cable-free Atmos experience.
Setup is intended to be straightforward: connect the soundbar to your TV via HDMI eARC (or optical if needed), plug the sub and rear speakers into outlets, and let them pair wirelessly to the bar. Advanced configuration, room calibration and firmware updates are handled through the LG ThinQ app or the TV-based interface on supported models. The package also supports voice assistants, Chromecast, and AirPlay 2 for multi-platform streaming and hands-free control.
Sonically, the S95TR emphasizes a three-dimensional soundfield with clarity-focused center output and extended surround imaging from both side and rear channels. It’s tuned to reproduce movie and Atmos mixes with a wide soundstage, while the subwoofer provides the low-frequency support expected for home theater playback. Users can select preset sound modes and make level/tone adjustments through the app or via TV remote controls on compatible TVs.
Important platform notes: Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are supported for immersive object-based audio; the wireless TV-to-bar connection is provided on select TV and bar models; some advanced features require the LG ThinQ app or a compatible LG television for full functionality. Certain streaming and third-party services or voice features may require separate accounts or subscriptions.
Pros
- Fully wireless rear speakers and subwoofer for flexible placement
- True 9.1.5 configuration with dedicated up-firing center for clearer dialog
- HDMI eARC and multi-platform streaming/voice assistant support
Cons
- Many advanced controls depend on the companion app
- Some users report wireless/app connectivity and calibration issues
- Tuning can require time to get desired bass balance
VerdictThis 9.1.5-channel home theater soundbar delivers immersive, room-filling audio with up-firing channels and true wireless rear satellites. It excels at dialog clarity and cinematic immersion when paired with compatible TVs, and the wireless sub and rears are easy to place. However, some users report app connection and calibration headaches, and full tuning relies heavily on the companion app.

Three-stage experience: missing box, great support, great sound
First shipment arrived with the main bar missing — quality control fail. The retailer’s customer service quickly sent a replacement and resolved it. Once received, the soundbar performed very well; I’d rate the audio about 4.5/5 at a price that feels right to the buyer.

Couldn’t get the ThinQ app to connect
The bar wouldn’t join my WiFi despite multiple attempts and power cycles. Sound calibration also failed repeatedly even when the sub was nearby. I returned a previous LG model for similar issues, so this was disappointing.

Fantastic sound, poor manual
Audio quality is excellent, but the printed instructions are weak. I had to watch tutorials online to finish setup. The app helps a lot, but physically connecting everything was a bit fiddly.

Exceptional home theater and music performance
First system of this kind for me and I’m thrilled. Movies are immersive and music is balanced—vocals, highs and bass are well controlled. No complaints on sound quality; extremely satisfied.

Superb sound over competing brands
Outstanding audio—far preferable to the Sony home theater I auditioned. Clean, powerful delivery across movies and music.

Great sonics but software hiccups
Sound is excellent, but after a couple of weeks the system stopped communicating with the TV and required a hard reset. Hopefully fixes come via firmware updates.

Leaves my old Polk in the dust
Great value for the performance—setup was simple using HDMI ARC and the sub and rear speakers linked wirelessly without fuss. I don’t own an LG TV so I used the ThinQ app to tweak levels; the app is necessary for deeper adjustments with my Sony. Compared to my previous Polk Atmos combo, this system is far more detailed, with solid bass and wider range. Handy that an HDMI input is available. Overall, very impressive in a compact package.

Flawless with compatible LG TVs
Excellent match for a high-end LG TV. Sound is superb; only mild frustration getting very heavy bass settings to behave, as the system favors balanced tuning.

Does exactly what it should with LG TVs
Integrates smoothly with LG television settings. Sound quality meets expectations and the unit handles high-resolution, uncompressed inputs well. Note that most adjustments are done through the app.

Hard Working American 5/5
Good value when discounted
At full retail it’s tough to justify, but when discounted it offers solid value. Voice clarity is a big upgrade over stock TV speakers and Bluetooth has been reliable. Inspect the box on delivery — ours was slightly damaged but the unit worked fine. Overall a B+ for sound and features.

Powerful hardware hampered by an app
Hardware and wireless speaker links are solid, but relying entirely on the app is a problem. I couldn’t complete setup several times because the app failed to connect to my router. Support calls were lengthy and ultimately unresolved for me, so I never got the tuning I wanted.

Online Shopper 5/5
Pairs perfectly with my LG C4 OLED
Works seamlessly with my 77" LG C4 — TV remote controls the bar and it enables the WOW Orchestra feature for a fuller sound. Rears are crisp, the sub fills the room with clean bass, and Atmos mixes feel cinematic even if overhead effects aren’t always obvious.
