2-1/2" Brass Safety Hasp Latch — Mini Lock Hasp
Product description
This 2-1/2 inch safety hasp is sold as a single unit that includes the hasp body and a rigid non‑swivel staple for straightforward mounting. The exterior shows a brass finish for a polished look; the underlying construction emphasizes durability, using hot‑rolled steel where strength is required. Its compact dimensions make it useful on small doors, cabinets, trunks, craft lock boxes and other similar enclosures.
The hasp is suitable for both interior and exterior placements; when the hasp is closed the mounting screws are hidden from view to improve tamper resistance and present a cleaner appearance. Installation is simple with predrilled holes for screws and works with small padlocks or keyed locks that fit the staple. The modest size and attractive finish are often chosen for projects where appearance matters as much as basic security.
The manufacturer has a long history in hardware, supplying a range of sizes and finishes for home, commercial and industrial needs. This miniature hasp is positioned as a finishing, protective element for light‑duty uses such as decorative lock boxes, garden chests, or access panels, rather than a primary high‑security lock.
Pros
- Compact, attractive brass finish
- Concealed screws when closed
- Includes rigid non‑swivel staple
Cons
- Too small for heavy security needs
- Some units feel lightweight
- Hole alignment can be imperfect
VerdictThis compact 2-1/2" safety hasp offers a neat, brass-finished option for securing small doors, chests, and boxes. It includes a rigid non‑swivel staple and is intended for light-duty interior or exterior use. While the piece is attractive and conceals screws when shut, its miniature size and lightweight construction mean it’s not designed for heavy-duty or high-security applications. Good for craf

Exactly what I needed
Well made and matched the look I wanted. Fit the job perfectly.

Serves my unusual purpose
Did exactly what I needed. I built a small birdhouse-style enclosure for a wireless thermometer transmitter and hung it away from the house to keep readings accurate. This hasp keeps the access panel closed so I can change the battery once a year—works fine for that use.

Too tiny for a door latch
This is a miniature hasp—much smaller than expected. Photo makes it look larger. Not suitable for a door or heavy duty security; better for tiny boxes or decorative uses.

Simple to fit on a small chest
Bought for my son's treasure box. Needed a gold-toned latch to match the hinges; it installed quickly with a drill and holds up well. Works with common small padlocks and is under 2" in overall size.

Too large for my cabinet
Didn’t match the cabinet specs I had — wrong size for my project.

Does the job
Mounted on a small safe with a compact lock. Performs as expected.

Misleading material claim
I wouldn’t recommend this for value — feels cheaply made and is not solid brass as I expected.

Fair latch but holes misaligned
Some predrilled holes were slightly off, but it installed neatly and looks decent once mounted.
