Chisel Sharpening Kit with Honing Guide and 400/1000 Diamond Stone
Product description
This sharpening set arrives with all components needed to restore and refine woodworking edges: an adjustable honing guide jig, a double-sided diamond stone (400 and 1000 grit), a non-slip rubber stone base, a small angle alignment tool, an Allen/hex key and a soft flannel storage pouch. A protective cover for the stone is included for safe storage.
The honing fixture is machined from aluminum alloy and fitted with a widened roller to improve stability during back-and-forth strokes. It clamps chisels and plane irons securely and allows the user to lock in a chosen sharpening angle for repeatable bevels. Typical supported widths span roughly 1/8" up to about 2-3/4", so it suits most common chisel and plane blade sizes (verify your tool measurement before use).
The sharpening stone has a diamond-coated surface on both faces: the 400-grit side is intended for rapid reshaping, removing nicks, and rebuilding a bevel, while the 1000-grit side is meant for refining and polishing the edge. Diamond abrasives cut quickly, resist wear, and normally do not require flattening. The included non-slip base keeps the stone steady on the workbench during use.
Setup is straightforward: secure the blade in the honing guide, set the angle using the gauge or by measurement, then slide the blade across the diamond stone for coarse and then fine passes. The kit is designed to take the guesswork out of achieving a consistent bevel, helping both beginners and experienced users produce sharp, usable edges.
When not in use the components tuck away into the supplied flannel pouch and the stone cover fits over the diamond plate, keeping the kit compact and organized for storage in a toolbox or drawer.
Pros
- Complete kit with guide, stone, base and storage
- Diamond stone cuts quickly and resists flattening
- Aluminum guide with widened roller for steady sharpening
Cons
- 1000-grit side can feel coarser than expected
- Some small plastic or fastened parts are fragile
- Requires minor setup tweaks for optimal performance
VerdictThis kit supplies a complete workflow for chisel and plane blade maintenance: a clamping honing guide for consistent bevels, a coarse/fine diamond stone for fast material removal and polishing, and storage components to keep everything together. The aluminum guide and widened roller give good stability and the stone does not require flattening. However, some users report the finer grit feels coars

Keeps older chisels usable
Helped me maintain and revive long-owned chisels. It keeps the cutting edge straight and restores practical sharpness to older tools.

Works after some fixes
Build quality is so-so. The angle piece is only pressed in and feels likely to break; the knobs needed threadlocker to stop slipping. It performs once adjusted but could be more robust.

Decent starter sharpener
Took it out of the bag and tried it — pleasantly satisfied. It takes a bit of trial to find the right setup but it's simple to operate.

Consider other options
Not very effective for my collection. I tried multiple chisels and achieved better results with a grinder. Disappointed with performance.

Worked on stubborn chisels
Brought several stubborn chisels back to a usable edge that I had trouble with. Glad I bought it — it performed as described.

Prone to rusting
The metal parts began to oxidize quickly; it developed rust sooner than I expected.

Heavy-duty feel, watch short blades
Solid construction with good adjustments. Short blades may not reach the stone at 25° and the tiny angle gauge had no instructions, but it functions well and feels sturdy.

Frustrating to handle
Feels cheap and is awkward to use in practice.

Good holder, stones feel aggressive
The clamp works well with different blade widths and is easy to use. The diamond faces are aggressive at first; the 1000 side seems closer to a 600. I reshaped edges easily but used a finer stone afterward to polish.
