1ft 30A to 15/20A Marine Shore Power Adapter (NEMA L5-30P to 5-15/5-20R)
Product description
This adapter is a short pigtail that converts a NEMA L5‑30P 30 amp, 125 volt twist‑lock plug into combined NEMA 5‑15R (15A) and 5‑20R (20A T‑blade) female receptacles. The kit consists of the molded L5‑30P locking plug, a combined 5‑15/5‑20 T‑blade outlet housing, and approximately one foot of cable joining them.
The cable is STW type with three 10 AWG conductors and is built with 100% copper wiring for reliable conductivity and heat resistance. The L5‑30P side features a twist‑lock collar to secure the connection to generators, RV or dock L5‑30R receptacles. The T‑blade outlet accepts standard household 5‑15 plugs and 5‑20 T‑blade plugs for 15A or 20A appliances.
Electrical ratings are explicit: the 5‑20R path is rated at 125V 20A (max ~2500W) while the 5‑15R path is rated at 125V 15A (max ~1875W). This adapter is intended only for 125V service — the T‑blade 5‑20R is not a 250V 6‑20R replacement. The short cable length and #10 AWG conductors minimize voltage drop on brief runs.
Applications include marine shore power, small generator hookups, RV use, and temporary connections where a locked 30A source must feed common 15A/20A equipment. The assembly carries recognized safety listing marks for added assurance of construction and performance.
Pros
- Rugged construction with full copper conductors
- Secure L5‑30 twist‑lock plug
- Simple way to power 15A/20A devices from a 30A source
Cons
- Only about 1 foot long — limited reach
- Restricted to 125V service
- Not a substitute for 250V (6‑20) circuits
VerdictThis compact adapter lets you draw power from a 30A twist‑lock source into common 15A or 20A plugs without altering the supply. It is constructed with #10 AWG STW cable and full copper conductors, with a locking L5‑30P mating to T‑blade 5‑15/20R receptacles. Because it’s only about 1 foot long and limited to 125V service, it’s most useful for short, on‑site connections—marine docks, generators, RV

Handy boat extension adapter
Useful extension for a boat shore hookup. It mates to the dock pedestal and lets you attach a heavy shore cord to the adapter’s 5‑15/20 receptacle.

Heavy‑duty adapter ran my welder from a generator
I used a 30A to 20A adapter with my Honda EU3000is to run a small arc welder. The L5‑30P twist‑lock fit the generator snugly and the 5‑15/20 outlet accepted the welder’s cord. With #10 AWG conductors and a short run I didn’t notice voltage sag. Living off‑grid, this made small welding chores much easier.
