X XBEN Outdoor Static Climbing Rope — Multiple Lengths (8mm)
Product description
This static outdoor rope comes in a wide array of lengths to fit many jobs: 10 m (32 ft), 20 m (64 ft), 30 m (96 ft), 50 m (160 ft), 70 m (230 ft), 152 m (500 ft) and 352 m (1,000 ft). Depending on the length, the rope is built with a multi-core internal structure — the shorter work lengths use a 13-core construction for improved binding and load distribution — and a braided outer sheath that resists abrasion.
The sheath is engineered for low surface slippage (measured under 0.05%), reducing pilling and helping preserve braking performance. The rope is manufactured to be low-elongation (static) so it won’t stretch under load the way dynamic climbing ropes do, lowering the risk of unexpected movement during hauling, escape or fixed-line tasks. It offers moderate suppleness for easy handling while remaining stiff enough for secure knots and control.
Both ends are finished and secured with sewn terminations and come fitted with two hooks for quick attachment. Nominal diameter is 8 mm. Maximum tensile strength is rated at 15 kN (about 3,300 lbs) and the suggested weight limit for use is up to 300 kg. The outer skin is twisted to boost wear resistance and overall durability.
Typical uses include emergency escape, fire survival, backup and safety lines, recreational and work climbing, hiking, camping, tree work, caving, abseiling, SRT, and general rigging or tethering tasks. It’s intended for scenarios where low stretch and a high breaking load are required; proper training and appropriate anchor techniques are recommended for any life-safety applications.
Pros
- Low-stretch static construction
- Abrasion-resistant outer sheath
- Sewn ends with attached hooks
Cons
- 8 mm diameter may limit some technical climbing uses
- Heavier and less elastic than dynamic ropes
- Longer lengths may require extra storage space
VerdictA heavy-duty static line offering low elongation, abrasion-resistant sheath and sewn terminations with attached hooks. Several lengths are offered to suit personal escape kits, tree work, man-lift backup or fixed-line applications. The rope’s construction balances manageable suppleness with secure handling and a high tensile rating, making it a versatile option for anchored work, descending or eme

Saved my wheelchair evacuation — use with extreme caution
After losing my right leg I needed a safe method to lower my wheelchair from a third-floor flat. With careful setup I fed the rope behind the wheelchair backrest straps, formed secure loops and lowered slowly. This rope handled the load well, but don’t try this without absolute confidence in your setup and never attempt alone unless trained. Practice safe rigging and inspect attachment points first.

Really came through in a rescue situation
Bought this short length for emergency self-rescue from a man lift; when the lift failed the rope performed as needed. This is a useful self-rescue line if you are trained; otherwise call professional high-angle rescue.

Good construction for general use
May not be intended for lead climbing, but the materials and build quality make it a reliable option to keep on hand for work and utility tasks.

Solid basic rope for trips
Serves well for camping and bushcraft; I don’t rely on it for technical climbing but it’s great for general outdoor chores.

Very satisfied
Product met my expectations and performed well.

Slightly under labeled diameter, ends are properly sewn
I cut an end to inspect the construction. The termination is sewn, not just heat-wrapped, and the cut end sealed cleanly with a hot knife. Measured diameter fluctuated around 8 mm; where heat sealed it read slightly thicker, elsewhere slightly under 8 mm. Sheath resists abrasion well.

10 m length worked well for abseiling
I use the 10 m rope for tree climbing and short abseils. It’s compact but effective for those tasks.
