WELLUCK RV Roof Repair Tape — 4 in x 50 ft White Butyl Sealant
Product description
What you get: a single roll of white butyl repair tape measuring 4 inches wide by 50 feet long. The tape is finished in a natural white color that blends with many RV roofs and reflects sunlight.
Construction and properties: the product is a pure butyl-based adhesive layer bonded to a vinyl/film facing with no added fillers or asphalt binders. It forms a waterproof, airtight membrane and remains flexible in very cold conditions — rated to tolerate temperatures down to around -40°F — so it expands and contracts with roof materials rather than cracking.
How it performs outside: the tape is formulated to resist UV exposure and routine weathering, creating a long-lasting barrier against rain and sun. Its high coefficient of expansion allows it to move with metal, rubber, and composite roofing materials, reducing the chance of thermal stress opening seams.
Where to use it: suited for RV roofs, camper tops, motorhomes, trailers, boats and general metal or membrane repairs. It works on seams, tears, termination strips, vents and flashings and can be folded around irregular shapes thanks to its flexibility.
How to apply: clean the repair area thoroughly, cut the tape to length, peel back the release liner a few inches, position the tape, and press firmly across the surface. Roll or rub the tape to ensure contact and remove air pockets. The tape bonds aggressively and leaves a strong, mostly permanent seal.
Pros
- Very high initial tack for immediate sealing
- Wide 4" roll covers seams quickly
- UV-resistant and flexible to -40°F
Cons
- Extremely hard to fully remove once applied
- Adhesive can stick to skin and tools
- May leave residue on surrounding surfaces
VerdictA heavy‑tack butyl roof tape that delivers a durable, waterproof seal for seams and tears on RV roofs and other outdoor surfaces. It resists UV and extreme temperatures, installs quickly with basic prep, and is wide enough to cover large gaps. Expect very strong adhesion that can be difficult to remove, so plan placement carefully.

Pro contractor pick
As a roofing contractor I use this tape for flat roof drip edges. It bonds well to metal and membranes without extra caulk, survives freeze-thaw cycles, and leaves a clean white finish that simplifies crew work.

Too tacky for some jobs
Works OK on RV roofs but the exposed adhesive can leave heavy residue. Not ideal for every application compared to other tapes I’ve tried.

Solved my seam leaks
Arrived quickly and applied easily to the add-a-room seams for winter protection. Thick vinyl with strong adhesive — exactly what I needed.

Width is a benefit
I underestimated the advantage of a wider roll. In hot, sunny Florida the extra coverage helps protect the roof under extreme conditions. Very useful.

Handy for quick fixes
Does what it’s intended for — quick, effective repairs. Still holding up after use.

Very sticky and effective
Super tacky and fairly simple to apply. It conforms to roof imperfections well. Main nuisance is removing the goo from your hands — mineral spirits did the trick for me.

Looks solid so far
Simple to work with and seems to be doing its job. Time and weather will tell, but it appears sufficient for routine repairs.

Insanely sticky — tips included
Five stars for short-term performance. Adhesive is almost liquid and fills gaps well. Prep with denatured alcohol, let dry, align long strips, peel a few inches of liner at a time, press firmly and finish by rubbing with a damp cloth. Remove residue with mineral or baby oil.

Impressive performance so far
Found several vulnerable seams after winter storage and used this tape instead of lap sealant for the 36' Class A edges. It’s essentially permanent, but I expect the membrane to last another decade so sealing the edges made sense.

Did the job
Easy to apply and sealed the van roof effectively. Would recommend for rooftop seam repairs.

Used on a residential rubber roof
Applied to the seams and termination areas of an older rubber membrane that had pulled away. The membrane had shrunk and nails had failed, letting water in and leaving ceiling stains. The tape covered seams and questionable edges and stopped the leaks where lap sealant had failed.
