Sonos Ace Noise-Cancelling Over‑Ear Headphones — Black
Product description
Dolby Atmos spatial audio with dynamic head tracking brings a three‑dimensional listening experience to music, movies, and games.
The Ace supports lossless audio streamed wirelessly where supported or via a wired USB‑C connection for bit‑perfect playback. Active Noise Cancellation shuts out ambient noise for focused listening, while an awareness/transparent mode lets in external sounds when needed.
Designed for prolonged wear, the cups use plush memory foam wrapped in soft vegan leather. The headband has a metal adjustable extension to fit a wide range of head sizes and hairstyles, and the overall construction aims for a premium, durable feel.
Battery life reaches up to 30 hours with ANC active. A rapid‑charge feature provides several hours of playback from just a few minutes of charging, and a USB‑C port handles both power and wired audio.
Included in the box are the Sonos Ace headphones, a USB‑C charging cable, a soft carry pouch, and a quick‑start guide. The pouch is lightweight and meant for storage rather than rugged protection.
Setup is primarily via Bluetooth and the companion app for firmware updates and additional controls. The Ace also supports seamless switching between paired devices and a TV swap/content key workflow for use with compatible Sonos soundbars.

Premium feel and handy TV swap feature
After a couple weeks of heavy use, I can say these rival high‑end wireless over‑ears in sound, ANC, battery life, and build. The TV Swap/content key is a standout for switching to private listening on a soundbar. Touching the cups doesn’t trigger controls, which I appreciate.

Immersive, well‑balanced audio
These headphones create an absorbing soundstage. The bass is lively without being overwhelming and the weight feels evenly spread. Compared to my Sennheiser Momentum 4s, the listening experience is noticeably different—more exploratory. Build quality feels high and I’m happy to take them everywhere.

Pairing trouble and a worrying crackle
Initial pairing with the phone and the Sonos app was frustrating and required several factory resets. Once paired, ANC and sound were good, but after about ten minutes a loud, intermittent crackling started in the left earcup. That unpredictable noise spoiled the experience.

Preferable to my Sony and Bose experiences
I’ve owned Bose and Sony models; I find these the most enjoyable so far. Sound is satisfying, connections are stable at distance, and the fit is very comfortable for long work days. I use the white pair and they look elegant.

Exceptional comfort and clarity
I tested many contenders before buying and these stood out for comfort, clean sound, and spatial head‑tracking. Construction feels solid and the overall presentation matches the audio quality.

Great comfort and long calls on flights
I’ve tried many rivals and find the Ace very well built and comfortable. The awareness mode and call quality let me talk for long stretches without fatigue. On a 13‑hour flight with noisy surroundings, ANC made a huge difference and felt more peaceful than expected. Sound taste is personal, but for travel and calls these are excellent.

Just okay
Sound is decent but can come across muted and not very loud for my tastes.

Perfect for my basement home theater setup
I bought the Ace to solve several issues in my unfinished basement theater: loud HVAC, a bedroom above, only one outlet, and a basic projector with limited audio outputs. Instead of a soundbar, I paired the headphones to a Bluetooth repeater and they handled everything. They let me watch late at night without disturbing anyone and bypassed the projector’s limited connections.

Comfortable and reliable during workouts
I owned Bose QuietComfort for years, but switched to these and haven’t regretted it. They feel slightly more comfortable and stay put during gym sessions—even when I lie back on the bench. ANC is excellent so I don’t notice gym noise, and they seem durable for daily use.

Solid sound for the price
I compared these to high‑end models from Bowers & Wilkins and Focal. The Ace outperformed some pricier sets in clarity and punch, and while not perfect for every genre, they deliver very good sound without the extreme price tag.

Good for everyday users, not hardcore audiophiles
Sound is pleasing but not ultra‑hi‑fi; however the feature set makes them attractive. ANC and awareness work well, and pairing/switching between devices is convenient. I bought them to match my Sonos Arc; when they paired cleanly with the bar it was great, but intermittent issues with that setup dropped my rating a bit.

Exceeded expectations for a first pair
This is my first set in this price range and they sound very good. The metal headband extension adds durability and a premium feel. The case collects some lint and the pouch lacks a zipper, but they’re comfortable for long sessions.

Exceeded my expectations
I was skeptical at first due to mixed press, but after trying many over‑ears these held up well. Unboxing felt premium, the headphones are lightweight, and the physical buttons are a welcome touch compared to touch‑only controls. For my use they worked better than anticipated.
