Gourmet Firewood BBQ Smoking & Grilling Chunks — Variety Pack (Large Pieces)
Product description
This variety pack contains four hardwood species selected for complementary flame and flavor characteristics: Pecan, Cherry, Hickory, and Oak. Each species is supplied as large, kiln-dried chunks rather than chips or fine sawdust, so the pieces burn more slowly and provide longer-lasting smoke for extended cooks.
The pack emphasizes uniform sizing — pieces are cut to a similar, substantial scale so they handle predictably in smokers and on grills. The woods are all hardwoods, chosen for smoking applications: pecan brings nutty sweetness, cherry offers a mild fruit-forward note, hickory delivers a deeper, assertive smoke, and oak supplies a balanced, hearty profile that pairs with many foods.
Use the chunks in pellet smokers, offset stick burners, charcoal grills, or gas grills with a smoker box. Add a chunk directly to coals, tuck pieces beside coals for indirect smoke, or place them in a smoke tray for gas grills. Because they are kiln-dried, they ignite and hold heat more reliably than green wood.
The assortment is presented in separate, clearly identified portions so you can select specific woods for different proteins or mix them to tailor your smoke profile. It’s presented as a premium option suitable for gifting to a barbecue enthusiast or for elevating weekend smoking sessions.
Pros
- Four distinct hardwood flavors in one pack
- Kiln-dried, large chunks for long, steady smoke
- Consistent piece size and clear labeling
Cons
- May be more wood than needed for very small grills
- Packaging is upscale, which may be unnecessary for some
- Limited to just four wood varieties
VerdictA well-crafted assortment for backyard smokers and grillers who want consistent, flavorful wood without fuss. Kiln-dried large chunks burn steadily and produce clear smoke; packaging and uniform sizing make them easy to use. Ideal for those who want dependable, distinct smoke notes.

Neat packaging and dependable smoke flavor
Quality wood that burned slow and steady. The individual, labeled portions looked sharp and made it easy to choose pecan and hickory for pork and chicken. I used these chunks in both a stick smoker and a propane grill; they held a consistent burn and delivered noticeable smoky flavor. Pieces were mostly uniform in size rather than a mix of chips and crumbs, which made handling simpler. Received several compliments on the flavor from guests. Feels like a higher-end option compared with basic bagged wood.

Kiln-dried and ready to use
Arrived kiln-dried and included a couple of starters. Lights easily, produces steady smoke and doesn’t turn to ash right away. Reliable fuel for my smoker.
