BambooMN 15.3" Hangiri Sushi Rice Mixing Tub with Lid — Jumbo
Product description
Includes one traditional-style wooden hangiri mixing tub and a matching lid, supplied as a single piece.
Constructed from pine wood with retaining bands, the outer dimensions measure approximately 4 inches tall by 15.3 inches across. Interior usable depth is about 3.25 inches and the inside diameter is roughly 14.25 inches, providing ample room for mixing and cooling rice.
Designed to speed up cooling and drying of cooked sushi rice so you can season and roll sooner. Care: wash by hand only, dry completely before storage, and keep away from direct heat to preserve the wood and seams.
Pros
- Large capacity suitable for group use
- Includes a fitted lid for covering and storage
- Breathable pine speeds rice cooling
Cons
- Retaining rings are plastic, not metal
- Noticeable pine aroma for some users
- Requires hand washing and full drying
VerdictA roomy, lightweight pine hangiri that speeds cooling and seasoning of sushi rice. It includes a matching lid and offers durable construction for home use, though it uses plastic retaining rings and requires careful hand care. Great for larger batches but may have a noticeable pine scent.

Breathable, lightweight wood
The breathable pine helps cool rice well unless you use another ventilated wooden surface. The lid doubles as a chopping board. Pre-treat with rice vinegar.

Surprisingly large
This is really roomy. Too big for just two people but ideal for serving friends. Looks nice. I would prefer metal bands instead of the plastic ones, but it serves its purpose.

Ideal for two when you want less waste
I had a much bigger hangiri that was overkill for two diners. This size is sturdier and more manageable. Having a lid makes storage and leftover handling much easier.

Spacious for mixing larger batches
Wanted a larger bowl for mixing rice and this fits the need. Cheaper than a nearby shop's larger option. Dry completely after washing to prevent mold; hand wash only.

Noticeable improvement in homemade rolls
Makes a real difference for home sushi texture. With a good rice cooker and quality rice, the results are closer to restaurant rolls in texture and taste.

Great for cooling rice quickly
Ideal for cooling and conditioning sushi rice so it’s ready to season and roll.

Good value if prepped properly
For casual use it works well, though it lacks copper bands and premium wood. Treating the wood before first use helps avoid odd flavors when mixing rice.

Company name causes confusion
The seller's name includes 'Bamboo,' yet the material differs; hangiri are traditionally cypress. Despite that, the tub performs well for sushi prep.

Made from pine, not bamboo
The tub is pine rather than bamboo and gives off a strong pine scent that some may find too intense. The product details mention pine, but the title can be misleading.

Plastic rings and a warped lid
Mostly as described, but the side bands are plastic instead of metal. The lid I got was slightly warped and doesn't sit perfectly flush.

Better than expected
Provides solid value compared with others we've tried locally. Build feels sturdy and the size is convenient. My husband, a chef, uses it both at home and professionally with clients.
